JUDAS PRIEST Singer Participates In AIDS Documentary
November 27, 2003JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford has participated in an upcoming VH1 documentary, "AIDS: A Pop Culture History", which is scheduled to premiere on December 1.
"During our initial conversation, VH1's represenative disclosed the channel intends to commit great resources to the program, so we're all optimistic the show will be great viewing," writes Halford's manager John Baxter on Rob's web site.
According to a posting on VH1's web site, "AIDS: A Pop Culture History" "will examine the history of AIDS as seen through the prism of media and culture. Reviewing how AIDS was reflected in entertainment reveals a greater understanding of how the virus affected the nation's psyche. We'll show how Hollywood first contributed to the panic, then later redefined AIDS as a public health crisis. We'll also see the limits of pop culture's reach, as AIDS seems all but been forgotten among today's entertainers. What role could pop culture play in helping stem AIDS now, especially as it spreads around the world?"
